The story Haroun and The Sea of Stories is about a story land fantasy world that is not so appealing to certain people. The Land is inhabited by two very different types of people, the Guppees and the Chupwalas. The Guppees are fun loving people or creatures who love the sun, stories and most of talking. The Chupwalas Love living in the cold darkness and hate sounds. So the Chupwalas try to poison the Ocean of Stories so that no more stories can be told. The Guppees then have to go to war with them and try to clean up the Ocean. This is similar to us because it is like the clean up of Dornix Park, we are the Guppees and weather, time, and littering are the Chupwalas.
We are very similar to the Guppees in almost everyway when we were cleaning up Dornix Park. The Guppees are trying to clean up something that is very important to them. When the Ocean of Stories was poisoned the Gups were getting sick and the stories were becoming sad, boring and/or dull. Now we are not getting sick or stories are not being destroyed due to Dornix being dirty, but since Dornix is a big historical part of Big Timber it is important to us to keep it clean and maintain its natural beauty, just like what the Gups want with the ocean. Dornix is the original homestead of Big Timber so it is kind of like the Wellspring, which is the source of all stories, of our town.
Our Cleaning up of Dornix Park compares with The Chupwalas and there goals because we are the opposition. We are here to stop the contamination and then revert the land back to its former glory or maybe even better. The Chups represent the wear and tear over time and all of the trash build up in Dornix and we are going to get rid of all the trash and fix the wear and tear. So even though we don’t compare to them in a positive way we still compare to them.
Dornix Park is important to us because it shows us where we start from. It is the site for our town and Dornix is the original name for Big Timber. Even though it was a long time ago it is still important to us because it always good to keep up with your past and your origins. This is why we are trying so hard to maintain this land. We as a community would never want to forget our past and the things that molded Big Timber into what it is today.
So in the end we can compare ourselves to both the Chupwalas and the Guppees in one way or another. We compare with the Guppees because we both have similar goals and want to save the place where we live. We compare with the Chupwalas because because we are just like there enemy in there world, we stand for everything there are against. The last thing is that our Dornix Park is just like their Ocean of Stories because the Ocean brings everyone closer to each other with its stories and Dornix brings our community together because iit will take a group effort to clean it up.
