What is the use of stories that are not even true? I believe that there are many uses for stories that are not true. The first use is to entertain, stories that are fiction are usually a lot more interesting because you can use your imagination as much as you please. So the bigger your imagination the more crazy your story can be. I know i wold rather listen to a fantasy adventure story with talking animals then a story about a an old mans fishing trip where nothing exciting happened.
The next use is to cheer someone up, just like in the story Haroun. In Haroun the storytelling makes people happy and full of joy which is very useful because they live in a city of sadness. So if you ever have a sad friend you can try to tell them an uplifting story to lower their sadness. A good story can do a lot and it will help keep their mind off whatever is bothering them.
The last reason is for a good bedtime story, no little girl wants to hear a story about some guy who lived a long time ago they want to hear a story about a princess who gets rescued by a prince, after the prince killed the dragon of course, and a story with a happy ending. Boys are the same way too, they would rather hear a story about warriors who go fight in a battle then something that is educational and true.
